First Resident Ambassador of UAE calls on the Minister of Foreign Affairs

His Excellency Dr. Saeed Mohamed Ali Alshamsi, the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Maldives, called on His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, today.
At a meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon, Minister Shahid welcomed Ambassador Alshamsi and congratulated him on his appointment as the first resident Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Maldives. Minister also congratulated on the establishment of the resident UAE Embassy in Maldives and expressed hope that the establishment of the Embassy will be an added milestone to the cooperation between the two countries. Minister Shahid and Ambassador Alshamsi conversed on further enhancing the strong bilateral ties between the Maldives and UAE through collaboration in technical and economical developmental projects and in the areas of mutual concern.
Ambassador Alshamsi assured the Minister of his commitment to work with the Government of the Maldives to further strengthen the relations between the two countries.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs was accompanied by the, His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, Foreign Secretary and Mr. Abdul Waris Saeed, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
