Ambassador of Singapore pays a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Ambassador of Singapore to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Chua Thian Poh paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid today.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon, Minister Shahid conveyed good wishes and commended on Ambassador’s contribution in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Minister Shahid stated that the Maldives attaches great importance to its relations with Singapore and appreciates the continued assistance and cooperation received from Singapore towards the development of Maldives. Minister also expressed the desire of the government to further strengthen the existing ties between the two countries and to find new areas of cooperation.
Minister Shahid highlighted issues relating to the environment, counter terrorism and technical cooperation. Minister also informed the Ambassador with regards to the government’s plan to provide fresh water and sanitation to all citizens.
Ambassador Chua expressed his gratitude to meet the Minister and assured Singapore will continue to provide technical assistance towards the socio economic development of the Maldives.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs was accompanied by H.E Ahmed Khaleel, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, H.E Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, Foreign Secretary and Mr. Hassan Hussain Shihab, Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
