Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration to Maldives, Mr. Sarat Dash, presents his credentials to Minister of Foreign Affairs

The newly appointed Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IMO), Mr Sarat Dash, has presented his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, Mr Dash assured IOM’s support to Maldives through providing technical assistance and funding opportunities. Minister Shahid reiterated the Government of Maldives’ support towards effective migration management, combatting trafficking in persons and ensuring the human rights of migrant workers.
Maldives became a Member State of IOM on 5th August 2011. In April 2013, the country office in the Maldives was established. IOM has provided support to understand the gaps and strengthen border control and migration management, and is committed to strengthening its engagement with the Government in the months ahead.
