Ambassador of France to the Republic of Maldives, Eric Lavertu, called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, today.

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this afternoon, Foreign Minister Shahid congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and expressed hope that the relations between the two countries would be strengthened under the Ambassador’s tenure. Minister Shahid also requested for the French Government’s support towards establishing a Visa Center in Maldives which would allow Maldivians to apply for Schengen visa from Maldives.

Minister Shahid was accompanied by Ahmed Khaleel, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and Ms. Shiuneen Rasheed, Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
