Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid meets Vice Prime Minister for Romania’s Strategic Partnerships’ Implementation Her Excellency Ms. Ana Birchall.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid met with Vice Prime Minister for Romania’s Strategic Partnership’s Implementation Her Excellency Ms. Ana Birchall today.
At the meeting held at the this morning, at the Victoria Palace, Office of the Vice Prime Minister, Minister Shahid and Vice Prime Minister discussed the existing bilateral relations, and ways to further strengthen cooperation between two countries. Minister Shahid also congratulated at the fulfilling role undertaken by Romania as the President of the Council of the European Union.
Minister Shahid and the Vice Prime Minister also discussed about cooperation initiatives to enhance collaboration between Maldives and Romania in areas such as healthcare service, disaster risk management, trade investments, education, information technology and countering terrorism and violent extremism.
Minister Shahid also expressed the desire of Government of Maldives to further promote fish products in the European markets.
This November, the two countries will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Minister Shahid was accompanied at the meeting by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel and Assistant Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Fathimath Razana.
