Minister of Foreign Affairs meets with the Vice President of China

Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid met with the Vice President of China, His Excellency Wang Qishan, this morning in Beijing.
During the meeting held at the Ziguang Pavilion, the Vice President and Minister Shahid discussed various aspects of the bilateral relations between the two countries. Minister Shahid applauded President Xi and the Government of China for bringing economic growth and social development for the people of China. Minister Shahid also congratulated China on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and reiterated the Government’s commitment to the One-China Policy
The Vice President acknowledged the importance of Maldives as partner in the Belt and Road initiative of China. Minister Shahid highlighted the importance of China as development partner to the Maldives. The Vice President Wang and Minister Shahid stated the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries for mutually beneficial development goals.
Minister Shahid is on an official visit to China from 19-20 September 2019. The Minister is accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel, Secretary, Multilateral Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, Director, Communications Mr. Miuvaan Mohamed and Assistant Director Maryam Bassama Farooq.
