Foreign Minister Shahid holds a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of Norway

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid had a telephone conversation with his Norwegian counterpart, Ine Eriksen Søreide, this afternoon.Minister Shahid briefed Minister Søreide on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Maldives and the measures implemented to curb the spread of the virus.Minister Søreide thanked Minister Shahid for the telephone call and firmly supported the Government of Maldives efforts and measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Both Foreign Ministers further agreed that the ongoing global health situation could only be normalized through collaborative efforts by the international community. Minister Søreide also expressed Norway’s readiness to share prevention and control experiences as well as provide assistance and support within its capacity to the Government and the people of the Maldives during this challenging time.Both Foreign Minister’s expressed confidence in continuing to cooperate and advancing interests on areas of mutual concern, both bilaterally and internationally.
