Foreign Minister Shahid holds a telephone conversation with the Minister of International Development of Canada

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid had a telephone conversation with the Minister of International Development of Canada, Karina Gould, today.Both Ministers discussed the escalating situation of the COVID-19 pandemic around the globe. Minister Shahid commended Canadian Government’s efforts and measures implemented to curb the spread of the virus.Minister Gould also applauded the bold measures taken by the Maldivian Government to ensure containment of the virus and assured the Canadian Government’s readiness to support the efforts through established mechanisms.The two Ministers also stressed the need for joint efforts in responding to the pandemic and reassured their commitment to continued cooperation and collaboration in advancing interests on areas of mutual concern, both at bilateral and multilateral platforms.ENDS
