Foreign Minister Shahid holds a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of UAE

Minister of Foreign Affairs H E Mr Abdulla Shahid had a telephone conversation with the UAE Foreign Minister His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this evening.During the telephone conversation, the two Ministers discussed the challenges that both the Maldives and the UAE face in responding to COVID-19 pandemic and on the measures taken to control and contain the spread of the virus.During the conversation, the two Foreign Ministers reviewed on-going collaborations between the two countries, and identified areas that require urgent actions to ensure that the social and economic impacts of COVID-19 are minimized.Minister Shahid commended the efforts of the UAE Government in combatting the virus, in particular, the large number of COVID-19 tests that have been undertaken in the country, which has significantly enhanced the Government’s ability in containing the spread of the virus in the UAE.Minister Shahid thanked Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the UAE Government for the generous support extended to the Maldives over the years.ENDS
