Foreign Minister Shahid holds a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of Thailand

Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Shahid had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kingdom of Thailand, His Excellency Mr. Don Pramudwinai, this afternoon.

During the telephone conversation, Minister Shahid thanked the Kingdom of Thailand for 10 mini ventilators donated by King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang in cooperation with the Thai Government. Minister also briefed the Thai Foreign Minister on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Maldives and the measures implemented to contain the spread of the virus. Minister Shahid highlighted the impact on the economy of the Maldives noting that Maldives is highly dependent on tourism and imports.

Minister Shahid also commended the strong measures taken by the Thailand Government to control the spread of the virus.

Both Foreign Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and collaboration in advancing interests on areas of mutual concern, both bilaterally and internationally.
