Financial Assistance for High Impact Community Development Projects, from the Government of India to the Government of Maldives handed over today

The Financial Assistance for High Impact Community Development Projects from the Government of India was symbolically handed over to the Government of Maldives today.
At the event held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, the assistance worth 85 million Rufiyaa was handed over by the High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Sunjay Sudhir to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.
With this symbolic handover of financial assistance, the mobilisation advance for the nine project for which the Memorandum of Understandings have already been signed under the High Impact Community Development Scheme of the Indian Government will be transferred to the Government of Maldives. The nine projects includes, Neighbourhood Fish Processing Plant development in three districts in Addu City: Hithadhoo, Maradhoo and Hulhudhoo-Meedhoo; Tourism Zones Development in five districts in Addu City: Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Feydhoo, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo; and a bottled water plant setup in HA.Hoarafushi.
These projects are undertaken under the umbrella MoU signed on 17 March 2019 for “Indian Grant Assistance for Implementation of High Impact Community Development Projects through local bodies”.
The special ceremony was attended by the Member of the Parliament representing the constituencies of Addu City and Member of Parliament for the Hoarafushi constituency, Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and High Commission of India in the Malé. The Mayor of Addu City Council, the President of the Hoarafushi Island Council, officials from Presidents Office, Ministry of Finance and the High Commission of Maldives in India also participated in the event, virtually.
