The First Webinar Targeting Indian Travel Partners was held today

The High Commission of the Republic of Maldives, in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Republic of Maldives in Thiruvananthapuram, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation and Health Protection Agency of Maldives conducted the first Webinar targeting Indian travel market today. The webinar was held to raise awareness about the measures being taken to ensure the safety of tourists in the Maldives, following the opening up of the borders and tourism industry on 15 July 2020.
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation, the Maldives Airports Company Limited, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Health Protection Agency made remarks and presentations during the Webinar, focusing on the various safety and precautionary measures taken against the current pandemic at the airport, at tourist establishments, and the health sector preparations. Panellists also responded to the queries from the participants.
In total, 181 outbound tour operators across India and prominent media from India participated in today’s Webinar. The interest shown by the participants indicated the interests that exists among Indian tourists towards the Maldives, and keenness of Indian travellers to visit the Maldives once borders reopen in India.
The Maldives is one of the most preferred destinations for Indian travellers. Last year, India was the second largest source market in tourism for the Maldives.
