FAQ

What is a virtual run?

A virtual run event is similar to a traditional running event except the participant completes it on their own. There is no specific location the event must be completed nor a required time. A virtual run event creates positive motivation by awarding the participant for their completed activity.

How does a virtual run work?

Participants first choose a theme, popular distance, cause or event organizer to choose their event just as they would choose a live running event. Once the participant chooses their virtual run event and registers the next step is to complete the distance and earn the finisher medal. The distance set by the event that they register for can be completed at any location been earned and will be sent directly to the participant, For more detailed step by step please visit our Run for Maldives How it works section.

When do I receive my finisher medal?

Our challenges and races are meant to be earned so our policy is to send your finisher after you have completed your event and submitted your results.

I do not live within the Maldives, can I still register for an event?

We encourage everyone to register. The Run for Maldives will have an option for our international participants to register. Shipping is included in all our registrations.

Does the virtual run challenge offer refunds?

We do understand that situations may come up where you may request a refund on your registration. Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds on registrations.

WHEN DOES THE REGISTRATION OPEN?

Registrations open on 1st September 2020.

Yes. Adults need to register for children to participate. We have a 5k run suitable for children. Children who completes the run in the given time will receive a medal.

What is stopping someone from cheating?

We do have a number of ways that we can detect cheaters, however we do realise that no matter what we do or how we structure it people are always going to be able to cheat if that’s what they want to do. E.g. Put their Fitbit on their pet! There are no prizes for first place. If someone wants to cheat then they are only really cheating themselves and wasting their money.

How do I enter a distance towards the challenge?

You can log distances using two methods Manually - Either on the web or via our iPhone and Android apps. Select your exercise type, add a distance and boom, you’re done. You can add a screenshot of your tracker if you wish but it is not required. Automatically – Via the range of apps and devices that we connect with. Currently we support: Apple Watch, Apple Health, Google Fit, Fitbit, Strava, Map My Run, Map My Ride, Map My Walk, Runkeeper.

How do teams work?

Teams are a fun way to take part in The Raajje Link . **Note that each team member is required to purchase their own entry into the challenge. Each team member will receive their own medal at the end** Basically you share the distance with the other members of your team. Your team will have your very own team icon on the map. Each time a team member posts a distance your team icon will advance up the map. Your team will also be represented on the leader-board. You (individually) will also be able to see information about your own achievements and rankings separate from the team. The distance doesn’t have to be divided evenly among team members. You can team up with guru athletes as well as people just starting out! So gear up with your friends or colleagues and join the fun! (Maximum team members - 5)

How much does it cost to enter?

Please view the pricing on the website.

Do you donate for charity?

When you run with Run for Maldives, a percentage of your registration fee goes to Thalassemia Society of Maldives and Maldives Red Crescent.
