Minister Shahid sends message of condolence to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid sent a message of condolence to Nikolaos-Georgios Dendias, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic following the loss of lives, injuries, and devastation caused by the earthquake and sea surges near Samos, Greece.

Minister’s message reads as follows:

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of lives, injuries, and damage to property in the island of Samos due to the earthquake and tsunami in the Aegean, today.

In this time of national mourning, the people and the Government of Maldives join me in extending our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and those affected by this calamity.

I hope the rescue and recovery operations continue smoothly and pray for strength and fortitude for the friendly people of Greece.

Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration."
