Minister Shahid sends message of condolence to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkey

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid sent a message of condolence to Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey following the loss of lives, injuries, and devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami in Izmir, Turkey.
Minister’s message reads as follows:
“I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of lives, injuries, and damage to property in Izmir due to the earthquake and tsunami in the Aegean, today.
In this time of national tragedy, the people and the Government of Maldives join me in extending our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and those directly and indirectly affected by this calamity.
I hope the rescue and recovery operations continue smoothly and pray for strength and fortitude for the brotherly people of Turkey.
Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration."
