Foreign Minister Shahid holds a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence of Ireland

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid held a telephone conversation with his Irish counterpart Simon Coveney, today.
During the telephone conversation, Minister Shahid and Minister Coveney discussed ways to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between both countries and committed to enhance collaboration at the multilateral fora to address global issues of mutual importance, such as climate change. Minister Shahid also briefed on the efforts of the Government to obtain duty free access to the EU market for Maldivian tuna and requested the support of Ireland.
Both Ministers further discussed the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the importance of international cooperation for recovery and return to normalcy.
