29 March 2021

The first 100,000 doses of Covishield vaccine procured from the Serum Institute of India arrived in the Maldives, today.

This is the first batch of vaccines supplied to the Maldives under the Vaccine Purchase Agreement signed between Ministry of Health, Maldives, Serum Institute of India Private Limited, and Serum Institute Life Sciences Private Limited on 23 March 2021, for purchase of 200,000 doses of ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 Corona Virus Vaccine (Recombinant) Covishield vaccine.

In January and February this year, the Government of India gifted 200,000 doses of Covishield vaccine to the Maldives. The Maldives had also earlier received 12,000 doses of Covishield vaccine through the COVAX facility.
