Minister Shahid holds a virtual interaction with Geneva-based Ambassadors from Africa Group

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid today, held a virtual interaction with Geneva-based Ambassadors from several African countries. The interaction was organized by the current Chair of the African Group in Geneva, Permanent Representative of Gabon to the United Nations Offices in Geneva H.E Ms Mireille Sarah Nzenze, with the Permanent Delegation of the African Union to the UN Office and other International Organisations in Geneva.
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the shared concerns between the Maldives and the African countries, including on sustainable development, climate change and financing for development. He shared his perspectives on sustainable recovery from the pandemic, and discussed the challenges faced by various countries during the Covid19 pandemic.
Minister Shahid thanked the representatives of the Africa Group for the opportunity to meet with them, and highlighted the importance of working together to enhance the multilateral system and international cooperation.
