Minister Shahid meets with the Secretary-General of the United Nations

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, had a virtual meeting with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, today.

Minister Shahid thanked Secretary-General Guterres for the assistance provided by the United Nations since the start of the pandemic, including the two projects mobilized under the UN COVID-19 Response and Recovery Multi-Partner Trust Fund which has contributed towards protecting vulnerable groups of society. He also briefed the Secretary-General on the COVID-19 situation in the Maldives.

Minister Shahid was accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel, and the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations, Thilmeeza Hussain.
