High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission to undertake an official visit to the Maldives

Ms. Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission will make an official visit to the Maldives, on 8 August 2019, on the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid. This is the highest level visit by the leadership of the European Union to the Maldives to date, and is reflective of the strengthened ties between both the Maldives and the European Union.
During this visit, Ms. Mogherini, will call on President of the Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, and hold meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid and the Minister of Defence, Uza. Mariya Ahmed Didi. High Representative will also visit the People’s Majlis and address the members of the Parliament.
The government of Maldives and the High Representative will discuss on further strengthening the bilateral relations between the Maldives and the European Union, including development cooperation as well on global matters of mutual interest.
