First EU business Roundtable under the theme ‘Investing in Maldives’

The Ministry of Economic Development and the Delegation of the European Union has begu the first EU Business Roundtable in the Maldives today.The roundtable discussion, under the theme 'Investing in Maldives', was co-chaired by Mr. Fayyaz Ismail, Minister of Economic Development andMr. Tung-Lai Margue, Ambassador of the European Union to the Maldives.
The Economic Ministry gave a presentation featuring an economic overview and investment opportunities in the Maldives during the event, while a presentation on the National Development Plan and the National Spatial Plan Initiative by the Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure was also given.
Representatives of EU businesses in the Maldives and potential investors participated in the event.
The EU Business Roundtable was announced by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Mrs. Federica Mogherini, during her official visit to the Maldives on 8th August 2019.
The Roundtable aims to provide a forum through which to facilitate and improve trade and investment by the European companies in the Maldives.
