Foreign Minister Shahid holds a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister of Afghanistan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency, Abdulla Shahid held a telephone conversation with the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, His Excellency, Mohammad Haneef Atmar.

During the telephone conversation, Minister Shahid highlighted the close relationship between Maldives and Afghanistan rooted in common faith and traditions, and expressed his readiness to reinforce cooperation in new areas of collaboration, both bilaterally and within the multilateral sphere.

Minister Shahid also commended the strong efforts made by the Government of Afghanistan in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Both Foreign Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual importance, to further strengthen the friendly ties between the two countries.
