Minister of State for Foreign Affairs meets Ambassador of France

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel has met with the Ambassador of France to the Maldives, Eric Lavertu, today.
At the meeting held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Minister Khaleel thanked the Ambassador for the continued assistance from France to the Maldives in areas such as development, security, strengthening governance, democracy, and human rights.
Ambassador Lavertu noted the progress the Maldives has made over the last few years, and congratulated the Maldives on its handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ambassador Lavertu further reiterated France's commitment to supporting the Maldives in a variety of areas.
Both State Minister Khaleel and Ambassador Lavertu also discussed avenues for further increasing cooperation in a plethora of areas including, green recovery, security, sustainable development, and agriculture.
Ambassador Lavertu was accompanied by Economic Counsellor of the Embassy of France, Jean-Alexandre Egea, and Honorary Consul of France to the Maldives, Ismail Wafir.
State Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Joint Secretary, Shiuneen Rasheed, and Assistant Director, Hussain Azhaan Mohamed Hussain.
