Foreign Minister concludes his Official Visit to China

His Excellency Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs concludes his Official Visit to China.
During the visit, Minister Shahid paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Wang Qishan Vice President of China, His Excellency Wang Yi, State Counsellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, and exchanged views on further strengthening the close bilateral relations between the two countries.
Minister Shahid also met the Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of AIIB, Mr. D J Pandian and President of BUCG International of the Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG), Mr. Li Daosong.
Two Memorandum of Understanding and one agreement were signed during the visit. The MoUs that were signed were “Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives on Strengthening Cooperation” and the “Memorandum of Understanding on Sports Cooperation between the General Administration of Sport of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Youth Sports and Community Empowerment of the Republic of Maldives and the “Agreement on the Economic and Technical Cooperation to provide grant assistance between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Maldives”.
During the visit Minister Shahid had media interactions with CCTV and Xinhua News Agency. Minister Shahid also met the Maldivian students in Beijing during the visit.
The Minister was accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel, Secretary, Multilateral Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, Director, Communications Mr. Miuvaan Mohamed and Assistant Director Maryam Bassama Farooq.
