Applying for National ID

Maldivian citizens residing in Benelux can apply for their National ID renewal through the Maldives Embassy by following the instructions below.

Required Documents

To apply, please prepare the following documents for submission to the Embassy in person or by email to

  1. A covering letter requesting for ID renewal, including details of all enclosed documents
  2. A fully completed ID application form (please remember to include a current contact number and signatures in the relevant boxes). ID Application Form
  3. Digital passport sized photograph. Please ensure that the photo is in compliance with the requirements set out by Department of National Registration.
  4. Copy of the applicant's current ID card
  5. ID fee has to made directly to Department of National Registration through a person assigned by the applicant.

Please ensure that all necessary documents are submitted when making your application

Processing Time

Following receipt of application, ID renewal will take approximately 12 working days.

Renewal will take longer if the necessary documents are missing, incomplete or not in accordance with requirements, and/or payment is incorrect.
